When we went to San Diego back in June, we stayed on Shelter Island. It was a great location from which to explore the area – easy to get anywhere, and a lovely park to enjoy in the evenings.

While waiting to take the shot above, I was taking some bracketed sets of long exposures nearby. I had just hit “go,” when this fellow photographer wandered into my shot to photograph the Tunaman’s Memorial. Two lucky things: (1) I was on one of the first shots, only two seconds (the longest of the set was 30); and (2) she paused just long enough for that two seconds.

– a very nice camera, but it presents new challenges for a rank amateur like me: With such incredible resolution (36 megapixels!), sharp focus down to the pixel level requires a whole new level of attention. I’m not there yet.
telephoto this evening. (The Sigma is not a bad lens for the money.) As the light was fading, I managed to get a few shots of the robins foraging around the garden.
